Aiken Co. Public Schools Weld Off

South Aiken High School is hosting the first annual Aiken County Public School Weld Off on May 16, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the SAHS Welding Shop.  South Aiken High School, Wagener Salley High School and the Aiken County Career Center are the only three welding programs for high school students in Aiken County.  

Daryl Cooper

Director of Public Works

Daryl Cooper is our Director of Public Works.  Mr. Cooper was born in Perry and has worked with our town since August 2012. He is licensed in wastewater treatment, water treatment, and water distribution. 

 

George Smith

Councilman

George A. Smith is a native of Wagener, South Carolina; he was born in Aiken County to James and Daisy Smith. He graduated from Ridge Hill High School in 1961 in Batesburg, South Carolina.

He furthered his education at Morris College Sumter, South Carolina. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1965, where he faithfully served his country for six years.

George Smith has been in Wagener city government for the past twenty six years and has served as mayor pro-tem as needed.

Governor's Frog Jump in Springfield

The 47th Annual Governor's Frog Jump will be held April 17 - 19, 2014 in the neighboring town of Springfield, SC.  Here is the schedule of events:

April 17, Thursday:

7:00 pm - Cow Drop at Frog Jump Arena

April 18, Friday:

5:00 pm - Carnival opens with an Arm Band Night

7:30 pm - DJ Bob Bonnet - Dance Platform

April 19, Saturday

8:00 am - 5th Annual Frog Jump 5K Run

8:00 am - Country Store Opens

9:00 am - Arts and Crafts Opens

Zerbini Circus in Salley

The Zerbini Family Circus is coming back to Salley on Monday, April 21 with a 6:30 show on the Salley Civic Center Fairgrounds, 258 Pine St. NW.  Tickets available at door.  Adults $12. each.  2 children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult ticket.  Camel and pony rides are available 1 hour before showtime.
